Biography
Katherine Calvey is an accomplished flutist who has performed as a leading musician in symphonies across North and South America.
She served as principal flutist of numerous professional orchestras globally, including Camerata de Coahuila (Mexico), where she performed alongside renowned artists such as soprano Renée Fleming of the New York Metropolitan Opera and tenor José Carreras.
Originally from Cleveland, Ohio, Katherine showed exceptional talent early on. At age 16, she won the national Littmann Music Competition in New York, followed by winning multiple first-place awards including first prizes won in music competitions in Washington, D.C. and the Rotary Club Music Competition, amongst many others.

Education
Katherine received multiple full-tuition talent scholarship offers and chose to study Flute Performance at the Peabody Conservatory of Music, the oldest conservatory in the United States. She earned her Bachelor of Music degree from Johns Hopkins University.
At her request, renowned flutist Mark Sparks joined the Peabody faculty, where she became his first student at the institution.
She later earned her Master of Music degree from the University of Michigan on a full scholarship, studying with Leone Buyse, former principal flutist of the Boston Symphony Orchestra.

Kurt Masur, former director of the New York Philharmonic

Martin Katz, acclaimed pianist and collaborator
She has also participated in master classes with leading flutists from major orchestras worldwide.

She has taught master classes on four continents. Many of her former students now hold professional positions, including a recent principal flute appointment in a national orchestra in Mexico City.
Early Career
Katherine began her studies at Baldwin Wallace Conservatory of Music on scholarship.
She was a member of the inaugural Cleveland Orchestra Youth Orchestra, performing alongside musicians from The Cleveland Orchestra.
